Cavity Formation during Asymmetric Water Entry of Rigid Bodies

چکیده

This work numerically evaluates the role of advancing velocity on water entry rigid wedges, highlighting its influence development underpressure at fluid–structure interface, which can eventually lead to fluid detachment or cavity formation, depending geometry. A coupled FEM–SPH numerical model is implemented within LS-DYNA, and three types asymmetric impacts are treated: (I) symmetric wedges with horizontal component, (II) a pure vertical (III) component. Particular attention given evolution pressure interface onset wedge tip their effect body dynamics. Results concerning tilting moment generated during presented, varying depth, asymmetry, velocity. The presented results important for evaluation stability slamming events.

Numerical Evaluation of Cushioning Pressure in Water Entry of Rigid Bodies

Effect of air cushion layer right before impact of a rigid body onto water surface has been investigated in this paper. The study is mainly focused on evaluation of cushioning pressure and the resulting free surface elevation. The air flow is assumed to be an irrotational flow which is governed by Laplace equation. The air problem and the resulting response of the water free surface are suppose...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

The Effect of Asymmetric Water Entry on the Hydrodynamic Impact

The effect of the asymmetric water entry over a submerged part of a ship on the hydrodynamic impact is investigated numerically. A wedge body is considered to study and the problem is assumed to be two-dimensional. The Results of symmetric and asymmetric impacts are compared together. The effect is found significant in the numerical simulation. The maximum hydrodynamic pressure at a heel angle ...

Simulating hard rigid bodies

Several physical systems in condensed matter have been modeled approximating their constituent particles as hard objects. The hard spheres model has been indeed one of the cornerstones of the computational and theoretical description in condensed matter. The next level of description is to consider particles as rigid objects of generic shape, which would enrich the possible phenomenology enormo...

Cyanogen formation during asymmetric cyanohydrin synthesis.

During asymmetric cyanohydrin synthesis catalysed by vanadium(V)oxo(salen) complexes, the catalysts are reduced to vanadium(IV)oxo(salen) as determined by EPR spectroscopy; the reducing agent is cyanide which is oxidised to cyanogen via a non-radical mechanism.
